Mexico Cave Exploration Project - Feb, 20, 2010 update

Tatich Exploration Survey Project. Early last year, CINDAQ (Centro Investigador Del Sistema Acuifera de Quintana Roo) was contacted by Manual Orvananus, Tatich's owner, to further the exploration and mapping of a cave system on his land named Tatich. With a long history of initiating conservation efforts in this area, Manuel's interest is focused on facilitating a better understanding and preservation of this cave and its broader surroundings.

Mexico Cave Exploration Project - Jan 14, 2010 update

The initial dives of a new project were undertaken over the past couple days. The objectives are to scout for cave entrances on the deep wall off the coast of Puerto Aventuras and to map any karst features discovered. It might seem strange to be looking for caves on the reef but in reality this is not a far-fetched idea. more

 

Mexico Cave Exploration Project - Jan, 2010 update

2010 promises to be another exciting year for exploration in Mexico. We plan to continue our efforts in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve which offers an incredible diversity of habitats. While we will be pushing exploration in both the Boca Paila and Caapechen entrances, we will also be assessing other areas of the reserve for further exploration. With this in mind we spent one day in the southern part of the reserve locating and assessing cenotes on January 7th. more

Mexico Cave Exploration Project - June , 2009 update

He caves of the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve on the Mexican Caribbean coast has become a major focal point for MCEP (Mexico Cave Exploration Project) & CINDAQ (Centro Investigador del Sistema Aquífero de Quintana Roo) joint projects. More than 15,000 meters / 50,000 ft of new tunnels have been discovered in cave systems under the wetlands of this UNESCO World Heritage site over the last 3 years of exploration. more
